President’s Day 2019

“Capture The Moment”

What a wonderful President’s Day we had this year!  Our Area President, Daphne Turner, organised a fantastic day at Westonbirt School, and our members came along in droves to support the event.  There were plenty of stalls to browse, including plants, fashion accessories, cards and flower arranging sundries –  something for everyone! During the day, we also held our Area’s Elimination Competition to choose the person who will represent our Area at the Designer of the Year competition to be held at the Floral Art and Design Show in August at the Business Design Centre, London. Thanks to National Judge, Margaret Rumens, for judging the competition. You can see all the entries in the competition HERE. The day began with refreshments, followed by music and comedy from actress, singer and entertainer Judith Hibbert, entitled “Around the Wireless”. There was a full house, and Judith had us all laughing at her amusing depiction of some of our best loved stars from yesteryear, including Julie Andrews, Joyce Grenfell and Gracie Fields. Everyone enjoyed it, and there was a standing ovation for Judith at the end.  Our Area Chairman, Katherine Kear, gave the vote of thanks.  A delicious two course lunch was then served after which we were treated to a superb demonstration by National Demonstrator Diane Fair, whose demonstration was also called “Capture the Moment” –  a brand new demonstration she put together especially for us!  The stage looked absolutely beautiful at the end of the demonstration, and Diane received a well-deserved standing ovation.
